Pizzazz Star City Twillers offers recreational and competitive levels of baton classes for girls ages 4 and up. Under the direction of Joan Duus, Pizzazz regularly participates in local parades, including the Salem and Roanoke Christmas and Saint Patrick's Day parades, as well as a year-end recital and summer baton camp. Pizzazz students also have the option of participating in regional, state and national competitions as soloists or members of a competitive group.
Pizzazz students have been feature twirlers with a number of local high schools, including Cave Spring, Glenver, and Parry Mccluer. Several have gone on to be collegiate twirlers. Former Pizzazz member and current Assistant Coach Harlie Dale is a feature twirler for Virginia Tech.
Pizzazz students have also participated in the Miss Virginia Pageant where Tara Rader and Candice Nelson each won the Non-Finalist Talent scholarship.
Pizzazz Star City Twirlers has been an active part of the Roanoke Valley since 1980. Classes are held throughout the school year at Cave Spring Baptist Church in Roanoke. Applications for the 2011-2012 school year are being accepted now. If you would like more information or to register your child for classes, you may use our contact/registration form.
